Cara Hilton reselected in Dunfermline and West Fife
Cara Hilton has been reselected as the Labour candidate for the Westminster constituency of Dunfermline and West Fife.
The Vice-Chair of the Scottish Labour Party and former MSP was also the candidate in the 2017 General Election, which saw the SNP majority fall from 10,352 to 844 votes, on an 8.4 per cent swing.
Hilton stood unopposed for the selection. She was supported in her campaign by Campaign for Socialism, Usdaw, Unite Scotland, The CWU, GMB Scotland and UNISON Scotland.
In a statement to the Red Robin, she said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to have been selected unanimously by party members in Dunfermline and West Fife. Last year, we slashed the SNP’s majority to just 844 votes and forced the Tories firmly into third place – making the constituency a must win marginal.
“Since then, we’ve been out campaigning week in week out, speaking to thousands of residents and between now and the next election, I want to take our positive Labour message to every doorstep in the constituency.
“I’m determined we’ll turn Dunfermline and West Fife red next time, we’re up for the fight ahead and ready to win for the many not the few.”
