Former Minister Brian Wilson backs Lesley Laird

Former Minister Brian Wilson, the MP for Cunninghame North between 1987 and 2005, has become the latest to back Lesley Laird's campaign to be Deputy Leader of the Scottish Labour Party.

In a statement Wilson said, "The last thing Scottish Labour needs at present is another internal election. Confirming Lesley Laird in the post would strengthen the ties between Labour at Holyrood and Westminster while enhancing her position in the House of Commons. All Labour’s efforts and resources need to be concentrated on campaigning and presenting attractive alternatives in Scotland and the UK. Lesley can help the Scottish party unite around these priorities."

Significant momentum is building behind Laird's campaign making her look almost unstoppable.
