Kate Watson reselected in Glasgow East

Kate Watson has been reselected as the candidate for Scottish Labour in the Westminister constituency of Glasgow East.

Watson, who previously worked for pro-union campaign Better Together in the 2014 independence referendum, was the Labour candidate in the 2017 General Election.

Her opponent, Linda Croker, was a council worker and the head of Sean's Trust, a charity that supports families bereaved by stillbirth.

2017 saw the SNP majority fall by over 10,000 votes, on a 12.6 per cent swing to Labour. Just 75 votes are needed to secure the seat.

The previous MP was Natalie McGarry who was forced to quit the SNP after accusations of fraud and embezzlement relating to the ‘Women for Independence’ group which she helped establish. The current MP is David Linden.
