Labour tops league table of parties on climate policy
Friends of the Earth have ranked Labour above all other parties on its plan for tackling climate change.
The environmental organisation ranked all parties based on their manifesto and policy announcements, with Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens all scoring highly.
Marking the parties out of a score of 45, Labour was on 33, the Greens 31 and the Liberal Democrats 30. Meanwhile, Boris Johnson’s Conservatives scored just 5.5.
Rebecca Long Bailey, Labour's shadow energy secretary, responding to the party coming out on top in the Friends of the Earth's climate and nature league table, said
"Labour has the most ambitious programme to tackle the climate and environmental emergency of any political party, as confirmed by Friends of the Earth.
"What sets Labour apart is that our plans have been developed with some of the country's leading environmental scientists, economists and practitioners. Our's is a plan you can believe in. That's the real change that Labour in government will bring to our country."
