Shock poll shows Labour rapidly gaining on SNP
Labour internal polling seen by The Red Robin shows that the Labour Party has dramatically closed the gap in Scotland. The poll of general election voting intention carried out by Moonlight Research shows the SNP on 34%, Labour on 30% and the Tories on 24%. Moonlight's owner Nick Moon is the Vice-Chair of the British Polling Council.
A senior Labour insider said, “this is very encouraging and confirms the increasing support for Labour in Scotland under Jeremy Corbyn and Richard Leonard and their message of hope and transformation for the many now the few.
This poll and others show that Labour has managed to increase their support from performances in recent years. Just over a year ago Labour was polling as low as 14% in Westminster polling.
In the 2017 General Election Labour polled 27.1% compared to the SNPs 36.9% and the Tories 28.6%.
