SNP falsely claims Stirling Council is run by the Tories
The SNP tweeted today that Mhairi Black asked the Prime Minister about universal credit, saying that Stirling Council was Tory run.
SNP's @MhairiBlack raises issues with Universal Credit implementation, saying Conservative council in Stirling looking for £500,000 to mitigate impact.— Nick Eardley (@nickeardleybbc) March 7, 2018
The problem is SNP is wrong.
Stirling Council is actually run by a SNP/Labour coalition.
.@theSNP claim @StirlingCouncil is Tory-run. Of course, it isn't; it's a SNP-Labour coalition.— Stirling Tories (@stirling_tories) March 7, 2018
It goes to show how impactful the SNP Councillors have been, that the party doesn't even know they run the council... pic.twitter.com/2L83XSpNaX
Correction: This story originally said that Mhairi Black herself claimed that Stirling Council was run by the Tories. This was based on the cited tweet from BBC reporter and the SNP tweet. This was not in fact correct and we have amended the article accordingly and apologise to Black for the mistake.
